| Question: I thought Lake Placid was in New York. Exactly where is Lake Placid, Florida? Answer: Lake Placid, Florida is in Highlands County, in the center of the state, approximately 15 miles south of Sebring, 80 miles west of Fort Pierce (on the east coast) and 80 miles east of Sarasota (on the west coast). Known for its distinctive murals, scenic Lake Placid is part of Florida’s “lake country,” featuring 27 clear freshwater lakes with over 10,000 acres of surface water offering outstanding water sports and fishing opportunities. Lake Placid is approximately 100 miles from major attractions in Orlando and 145 miles from Miami’s beaches.

Answer: In addition to the local Placid Lakes private airport for community residents and property owners, there are four major airports within an approximate 2-hour driving distance from Lake Placid: Orlando (north), Fort Myers (southwest), West Palm Beach (southeast), and Tampa International (northwest).
